Stuck in a Moment

As of last week, I'm now another year older and another year wiser, or so I hope anyway.  My last two birthdays have been celebrated in some of the most 'exotic' places, Korea and Australia.  I've packed a lot of living into my adulthood so far!  But time flies when you're having fun, and it makes me feel a bit sad.  I just wish that you could capture little moments in time and bottle them up and revisit them, but you can't.  I try so hard to make the most of a happy moment.  When I am completely and utterly happy, I always think to myself 'remember this moment, you're living it right now'.  Whether it's with people or places or activities, I try to soak everything in and remember all the small things about it because once it's over, you will never get it back.  I can still remember little details of some of my happiest moments, the way the sun felt as it burnt my skin, the way a certain hostel smelled, how the lights of Manhattan glittered on a clear night, the brilliant pinks and oranges in the clouds during a South Pacific sunset, breathing in salty sea air while watching sharks circle the boat you're in, standing atop a large sand dune hearing nothing but the wind and seeing only sparkling sand and turquoise waters below, stealing kisses on an elevator, texting someone day and night because neither of you can get enough of each other, the way someone felt lying next to them watching them breathe as they sleep.  I revisit these moments on occasion, closing my eyes and pretending for a moment that I'm back there, completely enamored with life, satisfied in every way possible, without a care in the world, stuck in the moment.

  1. Pictures and videos of the fun times are good but nothing quite beats the memories. :)

  2. What an eloquent post. I agree with you completely. Life is full of so many amazing memories. I too wish I could capture certain moments and revisit them. It seems as if you've captured them in your mind and through your words very well.
